This Grounded Full Moon Ritual is an invitation to slow down and create a little sanctuary in the middle of all that lunar light. The Full Moon has a way of turning the volume up on truth. Feelings rise, insights land, and suddenly you can see what’s been asking for your attention.
With a few calming steps, we’ll welcome clarity, practise gratitude, and gently loosen our grip on what’s no longer aligned. It’s part reflection, part release, and part coming home to yourself, so you can move into the next phase feeling clear, steady, and supported.
All you need is a notebook and pen, plus a timer. Optional: a candle, a warm drink, and a calming scent (lavender, chamomile, or anything that helps you feel settled).
Anchor questions
Keep these two questions close. They’ll guide the whole practice.
- What’s working?
- What feels heavy or ready to be released?
Step-by-step Grounded Full Moon Ritual
1) Arrive and soften
Find a comfortable seat. Place one hand on your chest and one on your belly, or rest your hands in your lap.
Take 5 slow breaths.
On each exhale, let your shoulders drop. Unclench your jaw. Soften your belly.
If it helps, say quietly:
- “I’m here.”
- “I’m safe to be honest.”
- “I can release what I don’t need to carry.”
2) Illumination check: what’s being revealed?
The Full Moon isn’t here to judge you. It simply shows what’s true.
Ask yourself:
- What’s been louder than usual lately (thoughts, emotions, cravings, irritation, tiredness)?
- What keeps looping in my mind?
- What am I pretending isn’t a big deal, when it actually is?
Write a few lines without editing. Let it be messy. Let it be real.
3) “What’s working?”
This is the stabilising part of the ritual. Before you release anything, you ground into what’s already supporting you.
Journal on:
- What’s working in my life right now, even in small ways?
- What routines, choices, or boundaries are helping me?
- What do I feel grateful for today (in my body, my home, my relationships, my work, my inner world)?
If you want a simple structure, write:
- 3 things that are working
- 1 thing I’m proud of
- 1 thing I want to keep nurturing
4) “What feels heavy or ready to be released?”
Now gently shift to release. Keep it practical and kind. You’re not trying to fix your whole life tonight, just naming what you’re done carrying.
Ask:
- What feels heavy, sticky, or draining right now?
- What belief, habit, or expectation is weighing on me?
- What am I holding onto out of fear, guilt, or “should”?
Write it down plainly. Then add:
- What is this costing me?
- What would it feel like to put it down, even a little?
5) Choose one release action
Pick one small, doable action that represents letting go. Keep it simple. Examples:
- Cross out one commitment you’ve outgrown
- Unfollow an account that leaves you feeling “less than”
- Delete one lingering email thread
- Put one boundary into words (even if you don’t send it yet)
- Write the thing you’re releasing on paper and tear it up
- Choose one item to donate
Choose just one. The point is completion, not intensity.
6) Do a 5-minute clear-out
This is where the ritual becomes grounded in your real life.
Set a timer for 5 minutes and clear one small space:
- one drawer
- one shelf
- one surface (desk, bedside table, kitchen counter)
As you clear, imagine you’re making room for the next version of you. Not a perfect version. A lighter one.
When the timer ends, stop. Even if it’s not finished. The practice is about consistency and intention, not perfection.
7) Close the ritual
Place your hands over your heart again and take one slow breath.
Say (or write):
- “I honour what’s true.”
- “I keep what supports me.”
- “I release what feels heavy.”
Blow out your candle if you lit one. Drink some water. Let the ritual be complete.
